Larry Augustin Building Online Open Source Communities Larry Augustin is an angel investor and advisor to early stage technology companies. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Fonality, Hyperic, Medsphere, OSDL, Pentaho, SugarCRM, VA Software (NASDAQ: LNUX), and XenSource. One of the group who coined the term "Open Source", he has written and spoken extensively on Open Source worldwide. Worth Magazine named him to their list of the Top 50 CEOs in 2000. From 2002 to 2004 he was a Venture Partner at Azure Capital Partners. Brian Behlendorf Founder and CTO CollabNet Brian Behlendorf founded CollabNet, with O'Reilly & Associates, in July 1999. The company provides tools and services based on open source methods. Before launching CollabNet, Behlendorf was co-founder and CTO of Organic Online, a Web design and engineering consultancy located in San Francisco. During his five years at Organic, Behlendorf helped create Internet strategies for dozens of Fortune 500 companies. During that time, he co-founded and contributed heavily to the Apache Web Server Project, co-founded and supported the VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) effort, and assisted several IETF working groups, particularly the HTTP standardization effort. Before starting Organic, Behlendorf was the first Chief Engineer at Wired Magazine and later HotWired, one of the first large-scale publishing Web sites. Brian is currently a Director of the Mozilla Foundation and a retired Director and President of the Apache Software Foundation. |

As the second largest State Agency in Oregon, he is responsible for systems supporting highways, bridges, rail service, right-of-way determinations, DMV and Motor Carrier Commercial Trucking inspections and licensing throughout the state. He is the former Chief Technology Officer of Providence Health System supporting the Oregon Service Area of 7 hospitals and 33 clinics. Mr. Berry has held executive and management positions in industries such as State and Local government, healthcare, telecommunications, aerospace/defense and airport transportation. Ward Cunningham Director of Committer Community Development Eclipse Foundation Callisto: Large Scale Collaboration Ward Cunningham is the Director of Committer Community Development of the Eclipse Foundation, an innovative open source collaboration among large and small commercial interests focused specifically on software development. Ward co-founded the consultancy, Cunningham & Cunningham, Inc., has served as an Architect in Microsoft's Patterns & Practices Group, the Director of R&D at Wyatt Software and as Principle Engineer in the Tektronix Computer Research Laboratory. Ward is well known for his contributions to the developing practice of object-oriented programming, the variation called Extreme Programming, and the communities supported by his WikiWikiWeb. Ward hosts the AgileManifesto.org. He is a founder of the Hillside Group and there created the Pattern Languages of Programs conferences which continue to be held all over the word. |

Scott Davis Author and Independent Consultant Web Mapping Alternatives Analysis Scott Davis is an author and independent consultant. He is passionate about open source solutions and agile development. He has worked on a variety of Java platforms, from J2EE to J2SE to J2ME (sometimes all on the same project). He is the co-author of JBoss At Work, quite possibly the world's first agile J2EE book. He is also responsible for several mapping books, including Google Maps API: Adding Where To Your Application and the forthcoming Pragmatic GIS. Scott is a frequent presenter at national conferences (such as No Fluff, Just Stuff) and local user groups. He was the president of the Denver Java Users Group in 2003 when it was voted one of the top-ten JUGs in North America. Until 2004, he was Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Treasury Department reporting to the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. Responsible for Treasury's $2.6 billion IT strategy and budget and for operating shared IT services department-wide, he became a Federal Computer Week Fed 100 awardee in his first year on the job for his reforms and innovative agenda. Erik Stenehjem Battelle Loaned Executive & Governor's Science and Technology Advisor Oregon Governor's Office Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Erik Stenehjem is a member of the senior staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) where he was responsible for creating new technology-based ventures and building partnerships with northwest institutions to enhance science and technology collaboration and knowledge-based economic development. He is currently serving as the Science and Technology Advisor to the Oregon Governor’s Office. He is headquartered in Portland. He is a member of the board of advisors for the entrepreneurship center at the University of Washington and, in his spare time, Erik teaches entrepreneurship and new business creation in the MBA programs at the University of Washington and Washington State University. Bill Welty Chief Information Officer State of California Air Resources Board CARB: One Agency's Experience with Open Source Bill was appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the California Air Resources Board in 1990. As CIO, he has overall responsibility for information technology systems, services, policies and operations. The ARB has been providing public access to air quality data via the web since 1994, relying on open source solutions, like Linux, Apache, PHP, to do so since 1995. Previously, Bill served as the Agency Information Officer for the California Environmental Protection Agency. He also directed the Office of Technology Adaptation and Planning for the California State Controller's Office, introducing innovative uses for desktop computers and office technologies. Bill has over 20 years of experience in applying information technologies to improve employee productivity, leveraging partnerships with clients to develop useful and reliable low cost business systems. Bill has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Certified California Community College Instructor in computer studies.
